Day 5 Bodh Gaya – Nalanda – Rajgir – Patna

Leave early this morning for Patna while making sightseeing stops in Nalanda and Rajgir. Built on a sacred site where the Buddha had often stayed, the Buddhist University of Nalanda was once the most prestigious centre of learning in Asia.  The evocative ruins of its monasteries and temples still convey a vivid impression of the serene and ordered life of contemplation and learning that once prevailed there. At Rajgir, visit Vulture Hill and World Peace Stupa. Surrounded by 5 holy hills, the picturesque little town of Rajgir is important for Buddhists as well as Jains.

(Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

Day 6 Patna – Kushinagar

Continue your journey today from Patna to Kushinagar, the place where the Buddha had chosen for the Mahaparinirvana. Visit the Mahaparinirvana Temple, which enshrines a 6-metre-tall statue of the Buddha in the Parinirvana posture. Then, proceed to the Ramabhar Stupa, which is the cremation site of the Buddha.

(Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

Day 7 Kushinagar – Lumbini

Drive to Lumbini in Nepal today.  After completing your immigration and custom formalities at the India and Nepal borders, you will transfer to your hotel. Your sightseeing tour of Lumbini will begin in the afternoon.  Lumbini is the place where Queen Mahamaya gave birth to Prince Siddharth who later became the Buddha. Visit the Mayadevi Temple and the Sacred Tank where Prince Siddharth was given his first purification bath.

(Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

Day 8 Lumbini – Kapilvastu – Sravasti

After an early breakfast, you will drive to Sravasti. Along the journey, you will stop by Kapilvastu, capital of Sakyan where King Shuddodan, the father of Prince Siddharth used to reign. This is also where Buddha spent his childhood. Sravasti is an ancient kingdom intimately associated with the life of Buddha. It was in the Jetvana Garden of this prosperous city where Buddha spent 24 rainy seasons. This important city emerged as a nucleus for Buddhism during the life of Buddha. It was also in this city that Buddha confounded his critics with a million-fold manifestation of himself, seated on a thousand-petal lotus, as fire and water emanated from his body.

(Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

Day 9 Sravasti – Lucknow – DELHI

Head for Lucknow in the morning where you will connect to Delhi via the high speed Shatabdi Express Train.  Upon arrival in Delhi, transfer to your hotel for a good night’s rest.
