Itinenary

Day 1 SINGAPORE - OSAKA - KOBE - OKAYAMA

Assemble at Singapore Changi Airport for your flight to Osaka. Upon arrival in Osaka, transfer to Kobe, one of the major sea ports in Japan. Then visit Himeji Castle, a prominent castle designated as a World Heritage Site. The castle resembles the shape of a heron with widespread wings. Thereafter, head to Kobe's busiest shopping arcade, Sannomiya for shopping and dining. Proceed to Okayama prefecture to visit Okayama Korakuen Garden where you can admire flowers from each season in the garden while beholding the sight of Okayama Castle in the distant. It is also known popularly as “Crow Castle” because unlike other castles, it is painted in stark black. Stay overnight in Okayama.

Day 2 OKAYAMA - KAGAWA

After breakfast, travel along the first suspension bridge that links Honshu and Shikoku. Opened in 1988, the Seto-ohashi Bridge spans over 37.3 km, of which 13 kilometres is used by trains and cars. Next, visit Kotohira-gu Shrine which is located halfway up Mt Zozu-san in the western Kagawa at an altitude of 524 metres. Though it enshrines the protector deity for sea-farers, people have been worshipping there for protection, health and against all evils. Stay overnight in Takamatsu.

Day 3 KAGAWA - EHIME

Until the Meiji reformation, Ehime prefecture was known as Iyo province. The area was dominated by fishermen and sailors who played an important role in defending Japan against pirates and Mongol invasions. Enroute to the capital city, Matsuyama, you will be driven past Suiha Heights located at the foot of Mt Suiha, which is filled with yellow rape blossom in spring and pink cosmos flowers during fall. Travel down memory lane on the Botchan train, a replica of the first train that entered service in 1888 as it transverses around the modern city centre. Next, visit the 3,000-year-old Dogo Onsen, Japan’s oldest onsen. Dogo Onsen’s main building is the first public bathhouse preserved as part of an important national cultural and history of Japan. Stroll along the streets of the onsen and enjoy some authentic Japanese delicacies. Stay overnight in the Dogo Onsen area and enjoy a relaxing Japanese hot spring bath in the resort.

Day 4 EHIME - KOCHI - WAKIMACHI - TOKUSHIMA

Enroute to Kochi, behold the vast plateau of the Shikoku Karst. Herds of cattle can be seen grazing the grass from spring to autumn. Visit Kochi Castle, one of the few well-preserved castles in Japan where you can climb to the top to have a panoramic view of Kochi. Next, visit the landmark point of Kochi city, the Harimaya-bashi bridge. It tells the story of the forbidden love of a priest and a beautiful lady. Proceed to Obiyamachi, the largest busy quarters in the Kochi city. Another spectacular sight not to be missed is the famous Ooboke and Koboke Valleys. The steep sides and rugged terrain of the area are said to have given the ravine the names Ooboke, meaning "it is dangerous to walk at a stride," and Koboke, meaning "it is dangerous to walk even with small steps." Explore the authentic old town of Wakimachi, a former trading centre that produced awa ai, a special dyeing product of Tokushima prefecture. The whole 430-metre long stretch of houses is separated by an Udatsu, a fire wall that is very unique in Japanese construction.

Day 5 TOKUSHIMA - OSAKA

Start the day with a visit to the Tokushima Awa-odorikaikan Hall, where you will get to learn how to dance the Tokushimas traditional dance, the Awa dance. It is a dance that both men and women are allowed to participate. Next you will see the great Naruto whirlpools that lie beneath the Ohnaruto bridge. The highlight is the roaring vortex itself, which swirls up to 20 kilometres per hour at a maximum diameter of 20 metres. Enjoy the view from 45 metres above the whirlpools when you walk on a glass bottom promenade along the lower structure of the Ohnaruto bridge. Next, travel on the longest suspension bridge that links Kobe, Awaji island and Naruto which is 89 kilometres long. Arrive in Shinsaibashi, where you will find the latest fashion, a wide array of local and international food, cafes and many entertainment outlets.

Day 6 OSAKA - SINGAPORE

If time permits, you can do some last-minute shopping before you transfer to the airport for your flight home.
